Poetry by CJ

I took some pictures of my lover/friend/travel partner, CJ on our last trip to Florida. I have to do it while she's not looking, otherwise she closes her eyes. I guess that makes her invisible. I thought it created a certain mood and I sent her the pictures and asked her to add some write some thoughts to go with them. Here they are, enjoy. She is still working on the last picture with the footprints in the sand. If there are any aspiring poets out there, please write what it evokes in you.

From Dusk to Dark

Light shines through gold tendrils that fall loosely catching the sunset
The hand illuminated by thought but merely aging human mass
She faces the west and seeks more…

Lights strung on the banister telling us that darkness is near
White Linen topped by sparkling candles throws angles of reflection of light
Serving of food and wine pared generously…

Congratulations on a medal and celebration of an anniversary
The void is filled but remains open
A quiet falls over the day…

The Urn and the Estuary

The ancient urn filled with life; flowers and plants brim over
A lost soul placed new urns on a shelf in a sea room
Filled with ashes of death; mother and sister but still life brims over
Juxtaposed in thought, which way does she go… life or death?

The ancient tug of war; death calling her to join but life beckoning her on
Just beyond, the river ebbs and flows to the ocean, an estuary of nature brims over
An extraordinary environment emerges out of the joining of opposites
Somewhere between like an estuary

Hi CJ,
Loved your poems! I've been in that transitional area a few times myself like an "estuary". Sometime estuaries can be very beautiful.

Can't wait to hear more,
Sara
